identity provider : organisation member of the federation and managing accounts of its users who can access to some of the resources available in the federation. You can see the list of the identity providers here.

member organisation : organisation participating in the federation that is allowed to declare an identity provider and different resources. Only organisations having a RENATER agreement can be members of the federation.

partner organisation : organisation participating in the federation that can declare one or more resources. Any kind of organism (French or foreigner) can be a federation partner: public body, association, private company…

federation participant : organisation that is either member or partner of the federation.

resource : online service/application/resource operated by a participant of the federation and accessible through the federation. You can see the list of the resources accessible through the federation here.

organizational contact of an identity provider or a resource: contact person for an identity provider or a resource for all organizational aspects related to the federation.

technical contact of an identity provider or a resource: contact person for an identity provider or a resource for all technical aspects related to the federation.

charter signatory of a partner: signatory of the Fédération Éducation-Recherche Partner charter. It must be a director entitled to bind the Partner’s organisation by contract.

federation contact of a partner: contact person of the partner for everything in relation to the Fédération Éducation-Recherche. Only the federation contact persons of a partner can declare resources in the federation. The federation contacts of a partner a designated in the appendix of the Federation - Partner Charter.

user attributes : data describing a user and managed by its institution. Those data might transmitted from an identity provider to a resource, but not necessarily. A user attribute is composed of a name and zero, one or more values. For instance the value jean.dupond@example.org might be attached to the attribute mail. technical framework : all the technical rules to which the participants of the federation must conform. The respect of the technical framework ensures the interoperability of the federation software communicating in the federation. You can read it on this page.

supported softwares : identity federation sofwares whose usage is recommended in the Fédération Éducation-Recherche. The federation administrators offer support for those supported softwares. Read the technical framework to know the list of the supported softwares.
