Welcome on the Fédération Éducation-Recherche website.

The Fédération Éducation-Recherche is a service provided by GIP RENATER (Réseau National de télécommunications, pour la Technologie, l’Enseignement et la Recherche) and which offers a technical and trust framework in order to enable participants to secure and simplify access to web resources thanks to Identity federation mechanisms. The Identity federation puts in relation, on the one hand, organizations dealing with resources and proposing applications, services or documents, and on the other hand, organizations dealing with users accessing to those digital resources, the identity providers.

We distinguish two possible roles in this federation depending on the status of your organization :

• Members are organizations that must have an up to date agreement with RENATER and can then operate both identity providers and/or resources ;
• Partners are other organizations that can only operate resources.

An organization willing to propose a resource or service in the Fédération Éducation-Recherche must subscribe as a partner, accepts the term of the partner federation charter and comply with the federation technical framework. A test federation and a set of test tools are available to understand, test and validate the installation and configuration of federation software.
